www2008, Peking, 21. – 25.04.2008
Im Rahmen der WWW2008 (International World Wide Web Conference) [www2008] findet dieses Jahr erstmals die Locweb2008 (Workshop on Location on the Web) [locweb2008] statt. Zu diesem Workshop haben Arno Scharl, Hermann Stern und Albert Weichselbraun ein Paper eingereicht, das nun accepted wurde.
Ziele der Locweb2008:
The focus of the workshop will lie on all the geospatial aspects that are related to the Web. A location-aware Web could spawn many network effects among different location-aware data models and services, where interoperability and interaction so far were limited because of the lack of a well-defined location concept for the Web. We encourage submissions that will enable mobile search, search in automotive, special local search engines in specialized fields. The workshop will look at the theme of location and the Web from a macro-level, interdisciplinary perspective. In recent years, the topic of location appears in many communities and is achieving great attention – user generated content, location-related multimedia Web content,Web scale geo-content mining, and mobile search are only some of these developments.
Neben den technischen Aspekten der Konferenz (vor Allem interessante Tutorials und Workshops) freue ich mich auch auf den Besuch von China selbst. Laut Wikipedia ist China mit 1,3 Milliarden Einwohnern das bevölkerungsreichste Land der Erde, der flächengrößte Statt in Ostasien und der viertgrößte der Erde (nach Russland, Kanada und den USA), also definitiv einen Besuch wert.
